Amorolfine is a medicated nail lacquer designed to conveniently and effectively kill fungal infections in nails. It belongs to the antifungal group of medicines and is particularly useful for treating infections that have reached the nail bed. The treatment timeline varies based on the severity of the infection, taking approximately 6 months for fingernails and 9 to 12 months for toenails to show complete results. Regular and consistent application is key to success.
A chemical in fungus called ergosterol causes nail infections. Amorolfine works by stopping the production of ergosterol. Without the chemical, the fungus stops growing, and its cells break down. The nail continues to grow, removing the infectious part until it becomes healthy.
Directions
Amorolfine 5% Nail Solution should be applied to each infected nail once or twice weekly.
- Using a new file, gently file down the infected areas, including the nail surface.
- Clean the nail surface and surrounding area to remove any funny smell.
- Dip one of the re-usable applicators into the bottle of Amorolfine nail lacquer. Apply the nail lacquer evenly over the entire surface of the nail. Allow it to dry for 3 minutes.
- You can use the applicators provided more than once, but you must clean it thoroughly.
Ingredients
Amorolfine (50mg per 1mL nail lacquer), Ethanol anhydrous, Ammonia, Methacrylate Copolymer (type A), Ethyl acetate, Butyl acetate, and Triacetin.
Side Effects
The common side effect of Amorolfine include:
- A burning sensation on the area you have applied, either hand or foot.
- Itchiness.
