Introduction

Aspirin 300mg Tablets and Orodispersible Tablets are widely used non-prescription medications that relieve mild to moderate pain, reduce inflammation, and help manage fever. As part of the NSAID family (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), Aspirin offers both analgesic and antipyretic effects.

These tablets are commonly taken for headaches, toothache, muscular pain, period pain, sore throats, and minor arthritis symptoms. While lower doses are used for heart attack and stroke prevention, the 300mg strength is primarily a pain-relieving formulation.

How It Works

Aspirin works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2). These enzymes help produce prostaglandins—compounds that trigger inflammation, pain, and fever. By reducing their production, Aspirin alleviates discomfort and lowers body temperature during illness.

It also thins the blood by inhibiting platelet aggregation. However, at 300mg, the antiplatelet effect is less significant than with 75mg doses and should not be relied on for cardiovascular protection unless advised by a doctor.

Orodispersible forms are ideal for individuals who struggle with swallowing or need rapid onset, as the tablet dissolves directly on the tongue and is absorbed more quickly.

Can Aspirin 300mg be used for heart attack prevention?

Lower doses (75–100mg) are typically used for cardiovascular protection. The 300mg strength is mainly for pain and inflammation. Do not self-medicate for heart-related uses without GP supervision.

You can use paracetamol alongside aspirin. Avoid combining with NSAIDs like ibuprofen unless advised, as this increases the risk of stomach irritation or bleeding.

Aspirin 300mg usually starts working within 30 to 60 minutes, providing relief from mild to moderate pain, inflammation, and fever.

No. It should be avoided in children under 16 (due to Reye’s syndrome risk), people with ulcers, asthma, bleeding disorders, or those allergic to NSAIDs.

Orodispersible tablets dissolve on the tongue without water. This is convenient for those who struggle to swallow or need quick administration.
