Losec MUPS is a gastro-resistant formulation of omeprazole designed to reduce stomach acid and relieve symptoms of acid-related gastrointestinal conditions. It is commonly prescribed for treating gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), peptic ulcers, and Zollinger–Ellison syndrome. The MUPS (Multiple Unit Pellet System) technology allows the tablet to disintegrate into granules, which are resistant to stomach acid and ensure controlled release in the intestine.

How It Works
Losec MUPS contains omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that blocks the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme in the stomach lining. This action prevents the final step in the production of gastric acid, resulting in a significant reduction in stomach acidity. The MUPS formulation ensures that the medication passes through the stomach without degradation and is absorbed in the small intestine, enhancing bioavailability and effectiveness. It helps relieve heartburn, heal ulcers, and prevent acid-related irritation of the gastrointestinal lining.

Why Choose Losec MUPS
Losec MUPS offers reliable and convenient acid suppression with once-daily dosing. Its MUPS design allows flexibility for patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets, as it can be dispersed in water without compromising its protective enteric coating. It provides consistent symptom relief in acid-related disorders and supports healing of damaged tissues in the digestive tract. Its safety profile is well-established through extensive clinical use worldwide.

Important Note
Losec MUPS should only be used as directed by a healthcare provider. Long-term use may be associated with increased risk of fractures, low magnesium levels, and gastrointestinal infections. It is not intended for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms. Patients should report persistent symptoms, unexplained weight loss, or gastrointestinal bleeding to their doctor. Always follow the prescribed dose and schedule.

Can Losec MUPS be used long term?

Long-term use should only be under medical supervision due to potential risks like reduced magnesium levels or vitamin B12 deficiency.

It contains omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor that reduces the production of stomach acid by blocking acid-secreting cells in the stomach lining.

Take the tablets once daily, ideally in the morning before food. Swallow whole with water or disperse in water if you have difficulty swallowing.

Losec MUPS may be prescribed to children under medical advice, but dosing must be carefully calculated by a healthcare professional.
