Ovex Single Tablet is a convenient and effective treatment for threadworm (pinworm) infections, suitable for both adults and children over 2 years of age. Each tablet contains 100 mg of mebendazole, an anthelmintic agent that works by inhibiting the uptake of glucose by the worms, leading to their eventual death.

Threadworm infections are highly contagious and can spread rapidly within households. Ovex Single Tablet provides a single-dose treatment, making it an ideal solution for managing outbreaks. The tablet is orange-flavored and can be chewed or swallowed whole, with the option to crush it for younger children who may have difficulty swallowing.

It is recommended that all family members (except pregnant or breastfeeding women and children under 2 years) be treated simultaneously to prevent reinfection. In cases where reinfection occurs, a second dose may be administered after two weeks.

Directions

How Does It Work?

Mebendazole, the active ingredient in Ovex Single Tablet, works by inhibiting the uptake of glucose by the threadworms. This depletion of energy stores leads to the death of the worms, effectively treating the infection.

Ingredients

  • Active Ingredient:

    • Mebendazole 100 mg per tablet

  • Inactive Ingredients:

    • Microcrystalline cellulose

    • Sodium starch glycollate

    • Talc

    • Maize starch

    • Sodium saccharin

    • Magnesium stearate

    • Hydrogenated vegetable oil

    • Orange flavor

    • Colloidal anhydrous silica

    • Sodium lauryl sulfate

Side Effects

  • There are no specific dietary restrictions associated with this medication. However, maintaining good hygiene practices is essential to prevent reinfection.

  • If you are taking other medications, especially cimetidine or metronidazole, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Ovex Single Tablet, as interactions may occur.

  • Ovex Single Tablet is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your healthcare provider before using this medication.

  • This medication is not recommended for children under 2 years of age. For children aged 2 years and above, the standard dosage applies. Always consult a healthcare professional before administering any medication to young children.

  • If symptoms persist after the initial dose, a second tablet may be taken after two weeks. If symptoms continue beyond this, consult your doctor for further evaluation.
