Efracea 40mg MR Capsules is a prescription medication used to treat moderate to severe rosacea in adults, specifically targeting inflammatory bumps and pimples. This modified-release capsule is designed for individuals requiring long-term anti-inflammatory therapy without the risk of antibiotic resistance.

How It Works

Efracea contains 40mg of modified-release doxycycline, a tetracycline-class compound with anti-inflammatory properties. At this sub-antibiotic dose, it reduces the activity of pro-inflammatory enzymes and suppresses the growth of certain skin bacteria involved in rosacea, while maintaining a lower risk of developing antibiotic resistance.

Why Choose Efracea 40mg MR Capsules

Efracea is uniquely formulated to deliver a consistent, controlled release of doxycycline, optimising its anti-inflammatory action while avoiding antibacterial resistance. Its once-daily dosing improves adherence and suits individuals who require long-term control of rosacea symptoms. Clinical studies have shown significant reduction in papules and pustules with minimal gastrointestinal upset compared to higher-dose tetracyclines.

Important Note

Efracea is not indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections or acne vulgaris. It should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to tetracyclines. Avoid sun exposure during treatment due to increased risk of photosensitivity. Consultation with a doctor is essential before starting therapy, especially for patients with liver impairment or those taking interacting medications.
