Cilique is a combined oral contraceptive pill designed to prevent pregnancy and support hormonal regulation. It is commonly prescribed to women of reproductive age seeking a reliable form of birth control. Cilique is also sometimes used to treat hormonal acne, reduce heavy periods, or manage menstrual cycle-related symptoms.

How It Works
Cilique contains two active ingredients: ethinylestradiol (oestrogen) and norgestimate (progestogen). These synthetic hormones mimic natural reproductive hormones and work primarily by stopping ovulation. Cilique also thickens cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to reach the egg, and alters the endometrial lining to reduce the chance of implantation. This multi-layered protection makes it a highly effective contraceptive option.

Why Choose Cilique
Cilique is a monophasic pill, meaning each tablet in the 21-day course contains the same hormone dose, making it easy to use. It is over 99% effective with perfect use and provides additional benefits such as lighter, more predictable periods and reduced menstrual cramps. It is often chosen by women who experience acne or premenstrual symptoms, as it may help alleviate both.

Important Note
Cilique should only be used under medical supervision. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections. Smoking increases the risk of serious side effects, especially in women over 35. Missed pills, vomiting, or diarrhoea can reduce its effectiveness. Patients with a history of blood clots, certain cancers, liver disease, or migraines with aura should not use this medicine. Always consult a healthcare provider before starting or switching contraceptive methods.

Can I use Cilique to control my period?

Yes, Cilique can be used to delay or regulate periods under medical supervision. Some women choose to take packs back-to-back to skip withdrawal bleeding.

Cilique contains synthetic oestrogen and progestogen, which prevent ovulation, thicken cervical mucus, and alter the uterine lining to stop fertilisation and implantation.

Take one tablet daily for 21 consecutive days, followed by a 7-day pill-free break. Start the next pack after the break, even if bleeding hasn’t finished.

Cilique is not suitable for women with a history of blood clots, certain cancers, or migraines with aura. A doctor will assess your suitability before prescribing.
